Memorization and repetition have been two aspects harshly criticized in schools nowadays. However, should we really eliminate them completely from education? Well, here are some reasons why we should not.

But what happens at higher levels? Well, the answer is the same. Memorization and repetition are two ways that students have to understand a subject and keep it in their memory. There is no doubt that memory is a key resource in the teaching process. In fact, increasing resources and carrying out techniques to train it, are fundamental.
- In the case of repetition, it can directly help to improve students' comprehension and concentration. As mentioned above, many students use this technique to study and by repeating and reading several times, better comprehension can be achieved which contributes to academic development.
While it is true that memorization directly helps education, it is also related to a social factor. Through memorization we can store general cultural data that can help us build relationships with our environment. The knowledge of various subjects is of utmost importance for the integral development of students and their future relationships with others; thus, memorization is a vital factor in this area.
Repetition is necessary master the topics explained in class. This practice makes it possible for students to retain and reinforce their knowledge. The student will be able to cope with the evaluations and objectives of the course. Working it together with motivation, attention and comprehension leads to a meaningful learning, where the student is the main shaper of the information.
